Affinity Dance South Hams Terms and Conditions

Bookings

- New classes students wish to attend must be booked in advance before the beginning of term. As an exception, new students may join classes part way through a term subject to availability and authorisation of Affinity Dance South Hams.

- A students first class is considered a paid 'trial' class. If for any reason the class is not suitable, we must be notified via email (faye@affinitydancesouthhams.co.uk) before the second class. Once a new student's trial week is complete, their place will be kept in the same class / classes for future terms, unless half a term's notice (6 weeks) is given in writing or via email to cancel a place.

Waiting Lists

- If a student's name is added to a waiting list for a class and a place becomes available, parents / carers will be contacted in the order they were added to the waiting list. If no contact is made, the next family on the waiting list will be offered the place.

Payments

- Payments can be made in either two half termly instalments or in full for a term. Payment for the half term / full term must be received in advance by the invoice due date to secure a place. Classes cannot be paid for on a weekly basis, however please contact Faye if you would like to discuss a payment plan arrangement instead. Payment can be made via bank transfer or cheques. We do not accept cash. Further information can be found on the invoices which are sent via email.

- Failure to make payment on or before the invoice due date, may result in the student's place being offered to others and a £5 late payment charge will also be incurred to cover administration time & costs. Affinity Dance South Hams will make every attempt to offer an alternative class or arrangement. If this is not possible, then your name will be added to a waiting list.

- Affinity Dance South Hams cannot offer a refund if a student does not attend classes.

Cancellations

- Where possible, Affinity Dance South Hams will aim to let families know of any changes in venue or class time at least one week ahead of schedule. Should there be a problem encountered by the class venue e.g emergency maintenance work etc, Faye will seek to find an alternative arrangement as close as possible in location to the usual venue. Occasionally, classes may be cancelled due to circumstances beyond Affinity Dance South Hams control. Affinity Dance South Hams will endeavour to contact all paid customers. Affinity Dance South Hams will view this class/classes as postponed and will do our very best to reschedule. Should classes in person be cancelled in 2021 / 2022 due to Government restrictions and guidelines relating to the Pandemic, any payment already made will be added as credit towards future classes. We are sorry but no refunds will be given.

- If a new booking is cancelled before the start of term a minimum of 7 days notice must be given in order for Faye to offer the place to someone else. If a booking is cancelled with less notice, payment will be incurred for the first class. For adhoc 1:1 lessons, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required for cancelling a lesson otherwise full payment will be incurred.

- As per the information under ‘Bookings’ above, once a student has started classes, half a term's notice is required in writing or via email for the cancellation of classes. Affinity Dance South Hams will always acknowledge these notifications as quickly as possible. Parents / carers will be responsible for paying for the student’s classes which take place during this notice period. This allows us time to offer the place to another family and cover the class running costs. This rule applies to all students.

During Class

- Throughout the Pandemic, Affinity Dance South Hams has been taking thorough precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and adhering to the most recent Government guidance which is applicable to our classes and school. The safety and wellbeing of our students, their families and our own is our top priority. Therefore, in line with local venues policies, parents, carers or other family members are unable to enter our class venues during lessons and must drop off from the designated entrance and then collect from the venue exit at the end of class.

- There is a dance uniform for all classes which was reintroduced as compulsory from October 2021. New students are welcome to wear a t-shirt or leotard and shorts or leggings to their first few classes. Uniform can be ordered and purchased directly from Faye or via our second hand uniform page. Some samples are available to view / try before purchasing. For our Freestyle, Acro Dance and Lyrical classes, we dance bare foot, so no socks or non footless tights must be worn.. Trainers are required for commercial style classes.

- No jewellery is to be worn during class. Small stud earrings may only be worn if a child’s ears have recently been pierced and the earrings cannot be taken out. Earrings need to be taped if the teacher feels they may cause injury.

- Hair must be tied back neatly off the dancers face for all classes.

- Students are asked to wait quietly outside the studio or hall until their class begins. Students should be dressed and ready to start their class on time and leave promptly at the end. For younger children, please ensure they wear shoes they can easily take on and off quickly themselves. Please also ensure students have tried going to the toilet prior to the class to avoid minimal disruption during the lesson.

- Affinity Dance South Hams prides itself in encouraging students to support one another. Poor behaviour is not tolerated and may result in the student being asked to leave the classes. If your child is affected by bad behaviour, please inform the teacher immediately so the situation can be resolved.

- Students are not permitted to chew gum or eat whilst in class. No food or drinks (except water) must be brought into the class at all times.

- Students are responsible for their own property and bring items at their own risk. Affinity Dance South Hams is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items. Students are not permitted to use mobile phones during a class. These must be kept on silent and in the designated changing/storage area.

- Students are not permitted to leave the class or building without permission from the teacher. Primary school aged children and younger must be collected from the studio by a parent, carer or a responsible adult. Students must not leave the premises until the teacher has seen the student is with the appropriate parent/carer. If collection from class is undertaken by a different adult please inform the teacher prior to class.

- Students should leave any changing facilities, waiting area or the toilets as they found them and must put any rubbish in the bin.

- A certain amount of risk is carried by any physical activity. Whilst every action is taken to prevent injury, students taking part in any of our classes or events, such as performances do so at their own risk. Where required, first aid will be provided by Faye (first aid qualified) or a medical professional.

- To ensure the safe and correct teaching of dance, physical contact may be necessary to guide students into the correct stance or to spot etc. Any corrections are made with due care and respect for dignity. Please contact the teacher if you have any queries about this.
