Miss Faye- Teacher and Founder of Affinity Dance South Hams

"I had the pleasure of meeting Faye in 2014 as part of a successful auditioning process for the first ever Pineapple Community Programme of work to be rolled out nationally. Faye was one of the few successful applicants to be selected as part of the programme. Since this time Faye has gone on to be one of our best loved community dance teachers, she is friendly, talented and a great team player always looking to enhance her own skills as well as others. She is a pleasure to work with and is a valuable asset to any organisation she gets involved in."

Pineapple Community Ambassador, Leanne Pero

Faye has undertaken training at the prestigious Pineapple Dance Studios in London and is qualified with the International Dance Teaching Association, achieving Distinction and as an Acrobatic Dance Teacher with the Acrobatic Arts, gaining top marks. Faye is also certified with 'Alixa Flexibility', a world renowned programme led by Alixa Slobodyan. Alixa has worked for Cirque du Soleil as a choreographer, trainer and creator! Faye has also undertaken a Barre course with Burrell Education.

Faye enjoys learning different styles, having successfully completed many dance exams in styles such as Ballet, Contemporary, Freestyle, Modern, Jazz, Street and Musical Theatre.

Faye has been lucky enough to work with dance artists such as Flip Van Huffel and Ben Duke and dancers from Rambert Dance Company. During her time in London, she also took classes at Siobhan Davies Dance Studios. Faye has danced in venues across the UK performing and competing, including successfully auditioning to represent the South West in London with Devon Youth Dance Company.

After qualifying as a dance teacher, Faye was shortlisted and selected to teach as part of a new Pineapple Dance Studios project called ‘Pineapple Community’. Eager to provide the creative opportunity in Devon, Faye went back to the Primary School she had once attended in the South Hams, to work with their students, teaching them choreography, performance and technical skills, resulting in a final performance at Pineapple Dance Studios in London.

2024 marks 10 years since Faye fulfilled her childhood dream of opening her own dance school to share her love of dance, providing opportunities and training for all ages and abilities across the South West. Fast forward to the present, Affinity is now a booming dance school, with a focus on empowering each student to never give up and celebrating every success.

Faye holds a current Enhanced DBS check, completes regular Safeguard training and is a qualified First Aider too.

Alongside Faye's dance work, she has experience within a Physio clinic having worked as a Clinical Lead and received training as an Assistant Physio!

In her spare time, Faye can be found embracing the Devon lifestyle! Whether it be enjoying long walks along the coast paths with her cocker spaniel Oola, family and friends or a swim in the sea!

" During lockdown Faye gave 110% offering almost daily virtual dance classes - it has been priceless - giving my daughter a kick start to the day and making lockdown fun and rewarding thanks to Affinity! What more can I say? "
